“Our Story”

Chartbuster Karaoke, the world leader in Karaoke music, has over 40 years of experience in audio and video production. It all began in 1963 when Norbert Stovall picked up a guitar and started playing in bands across the state of West Virginia. His love for music led him to open his first four-track recording studio called “Stage 4 Recording Studios,” and he hasn’t stopped since. In 1976, he relocated to Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee and opened “Music Square Productions,” engineering and producing for major record labels like: ABC, MCA, United Artists, and Warner Brothers.

In 1978, he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee and opened a state-of-the-art 24 track recording facility called Big Mama Recording Studios.It was at this time Norbert was approached by Earl Glick, founder of Hal Roach Studios. Earl was starting a new company called “The Singing Machine” and asked Norbert to produce the music tracks for a new fad called “Karaoke.” Norbert and Big Mama Recording Studios were the first to record Karaoke tracks in the United States earning them the reputation of being “The Pioneers of American Karaoke.”

In 1989, Norbert formed “Chartbuster Karaoke” with one goal in mind: produce high quality tracks that sound like the original tracks released by the record labels. It is that benchmark that has propelled Chartbuster to become one of the largest producers of Karaoke in the world, with a song library of over 15,000 in-house songs.

It is Norbert’s pioneering vision that has led Chartbuster to the forefront of the Karaoke world, and continues to lead Karaoke into the 21st Century, producing 50 to 100 new songs every month for Chartbuster Karaoke, expanding Karaoke into television shows, national contests, national tours, online broadcasting, and a brand new interactive concept, “Big Mama’s Karaoke Café.”

Once again Chartbuster has helped to change Karaoke’s reputation by taking it out of bars and night clubs, and focusing on the home, providing a family environment where parents and children can have good clean fun together. Our catalog does not contain explicit songs, and our television shows do not contain explicit performances. We believe Karaoke should be fun for the entire family, everyday!

The Chartbuster Karaoke line of product contains something for everyone. From young to old, from Country to Pop, from Modern to Classics and Oldies to Religious, we’ve got it all. Our line includes the following series:

The ProDisc Series feature 15 performance tracks without guide vocals.This CD+G format is used both on Country and Pop Hits of the Month as well as other discs such as Single Artist, Specialty, TimeLine and Essentials.

The 3-Disc Stacker Series - These ProDiscs feature 3 CD+G discs that are a quick addition to any and all of the other Chartbuster box sets. These sets are similar to that of the EssentialPlus series and are great additions to your library as well.

The 6+6 Series features 6 guide vocal songs for training and 6 performance songs with background vocals. This CD+G format is also used for Country, Pop and Single Artist discs.

And the newly added, 4+4+4 Series – which features 4 guide vocal songs for training and 4 performance songs with background vocals and 4 performance songs without background vocals. This CD+G format includes Southern Gospel, Praise & Worship, Christian Rock, Contemporary Christian, and Pick Hits, Christian Country and Hymn discs.

Our DVD Series contain popular Karaoke songs now playable at home on a standard DVD player.
